The Genetic Factor

Some Scientists in 1989, discovered the defective gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis, a serious heredity disorder that primarily strikes children of European descent, seems though a long-hoped-for a cure might soon follow. Tests show that providing a normal copy of the gene should make patients make healthy copies of health protein. If this works, this could help tens to thousands of people with Cystic Fibrosis be made healthy again. The disease usually kills the patient in their near 20’s. It’s whether or not the researchers could insert the gene in the area of the patient’s body tissue could get rid of their disease forever. However, this was not an easy task. Although the scientists made the virus that copies the health gene in the patient, the virus didn’t do its job well. Then other problems popped up and another cure for Cystic Fibrosis would need to be found.

Biologists in San Diego discovered more than 70 genes that have the ability to repair nerves after injury. This allows biomedical researcher to develop therapies to repair spinal cord injuries and other common nerve damages such as stroke. The scientists made this discovery after a two year investigation on 654 genes that are suspected to involve in regulating growth of axons. On a large screen they were able to point out that 70 of the 654 genes and six more genes that represses the re-growth of cells.A new gene therapy for people with Parkinson’s disease proved to reduce symptoms for the disease. This could help thousands of patients with Parkinson’s disease. Scientist did an experiment to see if this new therapy worked, and it show a significant improvement to the patients who signed up for the therapy. The scientists discover something that can speed up the treatment for Parkinson’s disease.

Some Biologists have discovered a new genetic code that can repair nerves over time. For example, this code can repair:

  • Nerve damage from stroke
  • Heart attacks
  • Minor nerve damage and  speed up major and injury the body (broken leg)

This could speed the recovery of your favorite sport‘s player let’s say a broken ankle. The genes could help the player’s ankle faster and the player is backing the game in no time! Another example is arthritis pain or injury. That could help tens to thousands of suffering patients with arthritis, so this is a big deal.

I learned that Biologists in San Diego discovered more than 70 genes that have the ability to repair nerves after injury.It would help us by knowing if the injury doesn’t heal up properly, that probably means that there is another thing wrong with your bodies cells. I think the repairs would make the injury stronger since it is healing naturally, ussualy if you are healed by a pin in your leg you leg doesn’t function as it could before. I do not think these genes have that much power to fix brain and heart cells. I honestly think that there is know way you can bring heart and brain cells back to life.   2. I think you forgot to link your piture. I would also suggest proofreading, your use of grammar and puncuation could’ve used quite a bit of revision. For example, you said “tens to thousands of people”. I am thinking this is most likely not a true statistic and if it is correct I would suggest stating it in a different way. Besides grammar and puncuation, the blog had a good topic, but was misleading on what the focus was. I just wanted to help point out a few improvements you could make, very much the same way you provided creative criticism for me.
