It is estimated to be getting more popular by 15 to 20% a year, according to Foley and Poust. Another part of teeth whitening is the precautions and risks.
At home whitening kits work well depending on what kind of eating or smoking habits a person has. For example cigarette smoke, coffee, or red wine can be factors of how long at home whitening lasts. A person can get whiteners at any store, which work best on yellow teeth not on gray or off tint white colors. Some side effects according to Foley and Poust, are irritation of the gums and possible bleeding. Everything is different when it comes to teeth whitening at home and teeth whitening at a specialist.

  1. I learned that there are many possible risks that come with teeth whitening/bleaching that many people do not realize. Stars in the media have white teeth, but they mostly have their teeth professionally done. They have teeth whitening strips at most stores such as Walmart, Target, or most places carrying tooth products. The website, http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/healthy-teeth-10/teeth-whitening-safety, lists all precautions you should take before going through with the teeth whitening. It also lists the ways safest to do so. Great blog!

  2. some remedies that you could you at home are: bleach, hydrogen peroxide, and teeth whitening strips like Crest-white strips. There is this You can mash up the strawberry or just rub it on your teeth, cut in half. Leave the juice on your teeth for one minute and then rinse with water, said Maccan-Graves. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/20/teeth-whitening-8-home-remedies-for-whiter-teeth-_n_811178.html#s226279&title=Strawberries
If this mild abrasive agent is not already mixed into your toothpaste, you can sprinkle a bit on top of your paste each day. Roth also suggested brushing with straight baking soda twice a month. “This is similar to what your dental hygienist does.”
    from same sight as above…

what can happen to the enamel on your teeth if you were to use bleach excessively?- can leave streaks on teeth.

  3. What are your thoughts on professional teeth whitening that people pay a lot of money for? Do you think that is also just as bad as any teeth whitening strip? if a person were to buy toothpaste what kind is the best for the health of your teeth and the fact you want them to get whiter?

  4. I like this blog because i think more people need to be aware of the dangers and affect of teeth whitening\bleeching. You can never get the enamel on your teeth back again. The sad thing is people pass by what the negative affects could be because all they want is the finished product, white teeth. Whitening toothpaste is better than actual whitening products because it doesn’t contain bleech. Although, it won’t have nearly as good of whitening effect. I used whitening strips at one point and regret it because now my teeth are very sensative.

  5. You did a great job with the research for this blog. I found this post very interesting because who doesn’t want their teeth white. The question I chose to answer was home remedies that are cheap to do. One way is to use strawberries. Everyday just rub the strawberry on your teeth, and it will remove the stains. Another way is by rubbing an orange peel on your teeth once a day. Brushing teeth with apple cider vinegar works too. There is also brushing your teeth with hard wood ash it has the potassium hydroxide in it. There are many more home remedies on the web site below.
