Alzheimer’s disease is a mental deterioration that can occur in middle or old age. A person with Alzheimer’s may live 4-9 years after they are diagnosed. Although in some, cases people can live up to 20 years. I was interested in this topic because one of my great grandpas had this disease. He died 6 years after he was diagnosed with the disease.

In the early stages of Alzheimer’s, a person may experience short-term memory loss. They may forget family member’s names or forget what their address is. Also, they may forget where they have placed things. Secondly, the early stages of this disease are called early-onset familial Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s disease mainly occurs when you are over 60. Only 10% of people who develop Alzheimer’s are under 60 years of age.

Alzheimer’s disease was discovered in 1906 by a German named Alois Alzheimer. Since then they have not found a cure for this disease. This is a very bad disease and I think a lot more research need to be done to find a cure for this disease.

Is there a cure for this disease?

How long after do people who are diagnosed live?

Who discovered this disease?
