The snake problems in the Everglades have become a big problem in the U.S. Some of the main problems these snakes are they are violent, expanding into other states, and there are no natural predators for the snakes.

The Burmese pythons are the main problems in the Everglades. One reason why these pythons are a pest is because their size. These pythons can grow up to 23 feet long and weigh up to 200 hundred pounds. They are getting so big and hungry that they will eat anything from bunnies to gators. They are destroying most of the wild sense they have no actual natural predator.

One of the main problems with these giant snakes are that they are expanding in number and in territory. Florida’s fish and wildlife have recognized this problem and have sets up workshops called python patrol. The snakes are slowly taking over the waterways of the national park and threating its ecosystem. Some people guess there are around 150,000 of them crawling through 1.5 million acres of the state’s wilderness. Florida is hoping their python control group will help the problem of snakes.

Burmese pythons are usually found in India and Southeast Asia. These pythons were originally brought to the U.S. for pet purposes but they escaped and now they are taking over. Some escaped but some were let free from python owners instead of being released properly. Some scientist are starting to use dogs to detect the pythons in the forest. Although dog’s scents are strong the pythons are still escaping and expanding because the smell of the forest animals throw the dogs off.

As you can see there are a lot of problems with these snakes including their violent activity, expanding into other states, and there are no natural predators for these animals. Hopefully the Florida’s Fish and Wildlife will find more efficient ways to take care of the escaping snakes in Florida.
